Dr. Maureen Latham

District Superintendent

As the Superintendent for the Beaumont Unified School District, I am very excited to share our role in the connection of Home, School, and Community with the citizens in the Mountain Pass.  Our core values are grounded in the belief that ALL students can learn and as a result of that instructional focus, the district has experienced tremendous student academic success.

The most significant academic achievement is that the district has met the federal academic targets under the No Child Left Behind Act and is not designated as a Program Improvement district.  Beaumont USD is one of two K-12 districts in Riverside County who have achieved this stature. In addition to the federal measurement, the Beaumont USD increased 12 points on the state Academic Performance Index and is now at 812. This ranking places the district sixth in Riverside County.

School sites have earned significant recognition for the accomplishments of students including Sundance Elementary being named a National Blue Ribbon School and a six consecutive year winner of the Title I Academic Achievement Award. In addition, Brookside, Sundance and Tournament Hills Elementary schools have earned the distinction as California Distinguished Schools. This year schools increased significantly on the API with Anna Hause at 874, Brookside, at 880 and Three Rings Ranch at 847. Most recently, the Riverside County Office of Education presented the Models of Academic Excellence Awards for programs at Palm, Sundance and Tournament Hills.

At the secondary level, Beaumont High School and Beaumont Adult School received full six year terms of accreditation from the Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC) Accrediting Commission and Glen View High School was named a Model Continuation High School. San Gorgonio and Mountain View Middle Schools dramatically increased in their API scores with San Gorgonio at 822 and Mountain View at 854. Beaumont High School continues to increase in API to 762 and leads Riverside County in the 10th grade CAHSEE pass rates.

The outstanding academic success is bolstered by the district commitment to 21st Century Learning and strong College and Career Readiness programs and facilities. The community support of Measure Z made it possible to complete the Performing Arts Theater and construct a two story addition with state-of-the-art classrooms for Culinary Arts, Construction Technology, and Engineering at Beaumont High School. The funds enabled the district to construct an outstanding Athletic Complex for football, soccer, baseball, softball, and track with additional classrooms for Sports Therapy, Wrestling, Dance/Cheer, and a Weight Room.

Beaumont USD recognizes the need to increase student proficiency with technology and installed Promethean Boards and document cameras in every classroom and supports the instructional technology with professional learning opportunities for all teachers, support staff and administrators. We are preparing our teachers and administrators for the transition to the Common Core State Standards-CA and the depth of knowledge and rigor of 21st Century Learning skills.

I invite you to join Beaumont USD in the enthusiasm and excitement we feel for our students and share in our compact with the School, Home and Community. Together we provide the students and community with the best that education can offer and life-long Cougar Pride!
